Thoughts on Christmas Eve
Do you think it was a dark night when the Light of the World arrived? Was it a silent night? Or could a little lamb be heard somewhere as the Lamb of God came down from Heaven?
Can you hear His cry from the manger? It would become the cry from the cross, that would save us all, as He proclaimed, “It is finished!”
Can you imagine the tiny hands reaching for His mother? They would be the gentle hands of God that would touch and heal so many before they would be nailed to a cross.
Consider this King as Mary wrapped Him in humble cloths as she cared for Him, not knowing He will again be wrapped in humble cloths by others as they cared for Him at His burial.
No fancy cradle for Him. He arrived at birth and was placed in a manger , an animal feeding trough hewn from rock, and at His death would be placed in a tomb hewn from rock. Jesus our Rock!
His father Joseph held the newborn babe. A different Joseph, a member of the Sanhedrin and disciple of Christ, would hold Him at death and prepare Him for His burial.
His mother’s tears of joy at His birth would become tears of agony as she would observe the horror and anguish at the cross.
The sky so brightly lit with the glory of God, at the announcement to the shepherds, is the same brilliance that would pour forth from God The Son , the “Light of the World”.
Do you see the shadow of the cross at the birth that would follow Christ all His days on His way to Calvary?
What Child is this? Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour! Born to die that we may have eternal life.
Can you even imagine a miracle so magnificent?
Gorgeous!!!!! Such a beautiful and “real” perspective…… Love it.

Great job on all of these devotionals, Mary Lou. God has gifted you and it’s wonderful that you are using that gift for His glory.
