I am both elated and disheartened as I return to my scroll and quill to bring you news of my recent discoveries as your investigative reporter.
Since I left my desk, my research has been intense! To say I am overwhelmed would be an understatement.
I have interviewed so many that I sought out to hear their stories but was surprised that so many also came to me to share their stories of miraculous, unexplainable wonders! The only plausible explanation is that God is at work and as they recounted it, it was only Jesus bringing these miracles that astonish the many.
My curiosity peaked, I continued on my quest to observe first hand the “miraculous.” I was not disappointed!
I witnessed a leper covered in sores, missing fingers and toes bowing down before Jesus saying, “Lord if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Of course, Jesus was willing, and with the touch of His hand the leper was immediately, and completely healed – no longer a leper!
I followed a multitude of people to a lonely place. Someone noted that there were at least 5000 men, but there were also many women and children so the numbers could have reached 15,000 or more. All of them were hungry and all of them were fed from 5 loaves and 2 little fish. Jesus blessed the food and just kept giving it out to His apostles who in turn gave it out to the multitude. Even after all were fed there were still twelve full baskets remaining. ①
How can this be?
On so many occasions this incredible man Jesus, has cast out spirits from the demon-possessed ➁, caused the blind to see again ③, the deaf to hear ④, and the crippled and paralyzed to walk ⑤ with just a touch or a word!
How can this be?
One woman suffering from hemorrhage for twelve years only touched the fringe of Jesus’ cloak and was a once made well. ⑥
How can this be?
He has even raised the dead! A synagogue official name Jairus had a daughter who died. Jesus took her hand and said, “Little girl, I say to you arise.” Immediately she arose and walked. Immediately everyone was astounded. ⑦
How can this be?
How? This Jesus works miracles that only God can do. He claims deity. The very reason the religious leaders want all of this man’s free speech and actions terminated.
Jesus has said, “I and the Father are One” ⑧ “He who beholds Me, beholds the One who sent Me” ⑨ “I am the way, the truth, and the life and no one comes to the Father but through Me.” ⑩ “He who has seen Me, has seen the Father” ⑪ It seems Jesus does what only God can do!
Our prophet Isaiah wrote of the coming Messiah, “His name will be Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” ⑫
I believe this man Jesus is exactly who He says He is. He is Mighty God!
At the beginning of this article, I wrote that I am elated. I am elated because I am a changed man having found the One who claims deity, teaches the truth, effects many miracles, demonstrates His love, has the authority to forgive sins ⑬, calls the many to believe in Him, and promises eternal life to those who follow Him. I will follow Him! I am a disciple now along with an abundance of others.
I also stated that I am disheartened. I am disheartened because I fear for Jesus’ life. The religious leaders are panic-stricken over the multitude of disciples (followers) that Jesus has. They follow Him everywhere, as do His chosen twelve apostles.
As more and more follow Jesus, the Jewish leaders continue to show up where Jesus is and have become increasingly devious and cunning, plotting to entrap Him, censor Him, accuse Him of blasphemy and of having a demon. They want truth speakers and truth seekers cancelled (read eliminated). I think they believe that if they can bring a death sentence for Him, that it would bring an end to their problems. I don’t think so!!
It disturbs me to consider what may happen. Jesus has told His apostles on more than one occasion of His future death. One of them reported His words, “behold we are going to Jerusalem and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes and they will condemn Him to death and deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock & scourge and crucify Him, on the third day He will be raised up.”
How can this be?
I will continue to pursue this foreboding situation and update you with any new information.
Please pray for the safety of Jesus.
